What are the formats and limits for photos?
Table of Contents
How many photos can I include in my stories?
There is no limit to the number of photos you can include, but there is a max page limit of 480 pages per volume. It's pretty rare to hit that limit, but if you have lots of photos (hundreds), keep in mind that generally only 1 or 2 photos fit on each page, so the page count can add up quickly.
What formats do you accept for photos?
We recommend scanning your photos at a high resolution (300dpi is generally good). Our system can't display PDF attachments, so it's best to save photos as JPG or PNG. CMYK coloring is ideal though it's not a requirement. You can use the "Print Preview" button when viewing a story to see how your photos will appear in the printed book. Read about our photo scanning tips here or learn how to edit photos.
Will my photos be printed in color?
You can choose whether to have the interior of your book printed in color or black & white, though there is an extra cost for color printing. If you choose color, all color photos in the interior of your book will be printed in color. If you choose black & white printing, all color photos will be converted to grayscale before being printed. The covers will be printed in full color for both color and black & white books.
Can I put two photos side by side on the page?
Our system will always stack photos vertically on the page, and we don't have a way to put two photos side-by-side or next to one another. However, there are photo apps and websites that allow you to create a collage of two photos, and then you can upload the resulting collage to your Storyworth story.
Note: this applies to both memoir books and celebration books.
